We are hoping for a large turnout for all
of our programs
this year. With special emphasis on
membership this year, we
are
sponsoring a drawing for a $20 dinner gift
certificate
at
a restaurant of your choice. All you need
to do is bring
non-AORN
members to the programs and your name will
be
entered into
the drawing for each guest that you
bring.
There will be one
drawing per program, so get as many
invitations out
as you can.
NOTE
FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Our
chapter 3001 has chosen a project for the
next year to start a
program
that reaches out to young people via
schools, to educate
them about
nursing. .
We would also
appreciate knowing about other pro programs
that may be in operation.
And, anyone who is interested in
participating in
establishing a program in your local area
should contact me.

Concord
Hospital, Concord, NH
Concord Hospital is currently working
on a revised

Procedure Policy. It is presently being
presented to

Dartmouth
Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, Lebanon, NH
In September, Dartmouth will complete
their first
" New RN
Grad OR Nurse Intern Program". Two
new grads,
from May 2002's
graduation, worked, from June through
October, as floor
nurses at Dartmouth. In October, they
began the
didactic portion of the OR program,
while
continuing to do
floor nursing. This portion of the program
continued until
March, when the new nurses began rotating
through each
service specialty in the OR. From July
through
September, they
were offered a focus in a specialty
area.
Their choices
were Ortho/Pedi, Gen/Gyn/GU, Vasc/CT,
or
Plastics/ENT.
During this portion of the program, they
were
assigned to an
extra call person and followed a mentor
through
the call process. The new grads report
that they have
truly
enjoyed the program. During the
initial OR portion,
they
thought they needed more time in each
service, but in
retrospect,
think that the timing was sufficient to
teach them
the
basics of each service, how to utilize
resources and
provide
them with an opportunity to seek
additional time in a
focused
area.
AORN
of NH is looking for contributions to
their
newsletter.
We would like to have news from each
hospital in
our
chapter. We also need contact people from
each hospital
to
post onto the web site. Please send your
contributions to
webmaster@aornnh.com
or
snail mail to
