June 7^th, our last meeting of the year, will be the annual potluck supper, held this year at the home of Roanne Rogerson.   Potluck starts around 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm and is very informal. Plan to attend and bring a dish. Every year I am amazed at the variety of delicious dishes that people bring.

    The agenda for the business meeting, following supper, will include:

· Meeting schedule for next year

· Committee chair appointments

· Fund raising activities

· Announcement of new officers

    Lorraine Heslop continues work on our web site and has made it possible to publish the newsletter on the internet and send copies to members at the e-mail address of their choice. This feature will make newsletter publication and delivery much quicker.  It will save our Chapter money presently spent on postage and labels. The best thing about this for me is that saving on paper use. Ergo, the environment!  We have a goal of making this newsletter 100% electronic ASAP.

    July 2002 is the date scheduled for a $15.00 increase in AORN membership dues.  Yearly  AORN dues will then be $90.00.  ($80.00 for National and $10.00 for your chapter) I still think this is one of the best investments for a professional organization. The AORN Journal alone is worth that price! To save money, renew your membership before July 2002.

    Two topics that were discussed a lot at AORN Congress were same site surgery and inclusion of peri-operative nursing in undergraduate courses.

    One change in the by-laws was to include representatives from physicians and pharmacy groups on the Board. They would not have voting privileges.

 We are still trying to research the beginnings of Chapter 3001. We have not found definite information on the year our chapter was organized.
