Happy spring from your Chapter President!

Fifteen members of AORN from New Hampshire, Massachusetts and California and I were able to meet in New Orleans at the Court of Two Sister's to celebrate attending the 52nd AORN Congress! We had a wonderful time and were able to share our experiences in attending the educational sessions as well as the Opening ceremony (we met Bill Duffy's family and he casually mentioned his wife deserved a diamond bracelet for putting up with him being away so much this last year, of course the entire audience witnessed this statement and good to his word, at the closing ceremony President Duffy came thru and he presented his wife with diamond and ruby bracelet to the delight of the entire membership There wasn't a dry eye in the house when they embraced on the stage).  I can only speak for myself that I had a wonderful time at this congress.  

The House of Delegates was very productive in putting thru the position statements, some with changes, some not. Please read your new journal to view the work that your delegates worked so hard on. We heard from Dennis O'Leary M.D. from JCAHO and how there will be unannounced visits beginning in 2006. Many of the topics at Congress are in the new journal but the daily Congress News and the AORN Congress Resources Book are available for our chapter to look over. They will be available at our next business meeting. We also have a new CD library for our chapter, which is available to all members.  The position statements are on a CD as well as other information from Headquarters. We have acquired a VHS tape from Johnson & Johnson on Nurse Recruitment and we have posters also for schools regarding nursing as a career.  If you want to borrow any of these contact me, or any of the board members, and we will sign them out to you. 

Please think about running for a position in our chapter. The ballot will be going out soon and we need your input. The ballots will be counted at our annual potluck dinner.
