This month's spotlight focuses on Eva Daniels,
our
President Elect for 2003.
Eva started out in health care as a
veterinary assistant
and I'm sure
she has some wonderful tails, excuse me,
tales
she can share
about her experiences! Her interest in
healing
lead her to
obtain her B.S.N. from Boston State College
in
1981 and she
came to Mary Hitchcock Memorial
Hospital
that same
year. She worked on old Faulkner 8 (a med-surg
unit) for
three years as assistant head nurse. She
then moved
to the
Intensive Care Unit, where she worked for
two years
before coming
to the Operating Room. Eva had the unique
opportunity
to be part of a team of nurses in a pilot
program
of shared
governance in neurosurgery. Eva has a very
pro-
active
nursing career, which has taken her to
Guatemala with
a grassroots
health care team, lead by Dr. Lori Lerner.
She
has been very
active in our chapter and has held
many
offices. She
has served as a delegate six times at AORN's
national
congresses.
Eva is also an active member of the N.H.
Nurses
Association
and has participated on their Committee
for
Nursing
Practice. You may also have heard her on the
radio
promoting
National and Perioperative Nurses Week.
Last
year, Eva
joined over three hundred nurses in The
First
Annual Walk
for Nurses in Concord, N.H. and she'd like
to
see more of
us there this year on Saturday, May 4, 2003.
Our chapter is very lucky indeed to have Eva
in it's ranks.
Good job!
Second
Annual
New
Hampshire Walk for Nurses
May 4, 3002
You
don't have to walk, you can volunteer to help with
registrations. You can bring your family and your pets!
Our
web site has a section called Nurses Notes,
where we have just started a new offering.
We thought it would be helpful to
share ideas and information that will help
us in performing our jobs.
As the
need for nurses grows, we are seeing an
increase in preceptorship in the O.R.
It’s a difficult time for everyone,
the new nurse intern as well as the seasoned
nurse who has now become the teacher.
Some of the topics we want to write about may seem
obvious to many of you who have been in
perioperative nursing for years, but maybe
for others these tid-bits may shed some
light on the mysteries of how we do what we
do.

NOW
IS THE TIME FOR ALL GOOD NURSES TO
COME TO THE AID OF THEIR CHAPTER!
It's that time of year again,
when we need to vote on new officers for the
coming year. Please don't be shy, if you have
a desire to be more involved in your nursing
career, why not start out by helping your
local chapter. We are always looking for new
faces and the ideas that come with them. If
you have never held an office before, this is
a good place to start. Let us hear from you.
