President’s Message

Dear Chapter Members:

Happy New Year!    As I sat down to write a presidents message, my mind went tumbling through thoughts of the past 15 years I have been a member of Chapter 3001. I went through the "Boat Bag" (aka ch.3001 archives) of chapter newsletters, meeting minutes and information from headquarters for presidents. Wow, so much has changed and so much is the same. I have served as secretary and president several times as a few others have. It is with a great sigh that the obvious was in black and white. There was a letter dated 10/6/86 to the president at the time responding to the question "What is the future of our organization?" We have that same question today in 2008. In '86 there were 27 active members caring the workload of chapter duties for 94 members. Today there are not even a dozen out of 115.

What is the future of our chapter?  Only you can decide…

At present we have the ability to help send 4 delegates to attend congress in Anaheim California this year. Please forward your name to be considered to be a delegate or alternate. Early registration is prior to February 11th.

Our next educational offering for 3 ceu's, is at DHMC, Pediatric Airway Issues with Dr. Mark Smith and some hands on training with robotics.

I hope many of you will attend and take advantage of the inexpensive credit offering and the chance to mingle with your fellow OR Nurses. I look forward to seeing you.

Respectfully,

Roanne

How do you get to be a delegate to AORN Congress?

Chapter 3001 uses a point system to determine who will represent the chapter at Congress in 2008.  Last year each delegate received $300 from the chapter to help with the expenses of traveling to Congress.  This year our chapter will seat 4 delegates to the AORN Congress in Anaheim .  You can accumulate points by:

·        Attending chapter meetings

·        Attending educational offerings

·        Playing an active role in your chapter

Last year we also chose to financially assist members who were attending Congress for the very first time.  If you are interested in being a delegate or are attending for the first time, please contact a member of the board.  Stay tuned for more information!
